NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 12, 2013) - In celebration of Valentine's Day, multiple Grammy and Dove Award-winning recording artist John Schlitt gives the gift of music this week with a free download of "The Gift," the most recent single on the legendary vocalist's fourth solo CD, The Greater Cause.

Music lovers are invited to visit SchlittShop.com on Valentine's Day, where they can download "The Gift" for free on February 14. A link to the free download will be delivered via email, enabling the user to send the song to a loved one or download it themselves.

Written in honor of Schlitt's wife, Dorla, and based on Ecclesiastes 4:9, 12 ("two are better than one" and "a three-fold cord is not quickly broken"), "The Gift" is a melodic saga celebrating the relationship between a man and a woman, intertwined with the One who made it all possible.

"I know that the Lord brought us together and by His grace has kept us together for more than 40 years-through all the ups, the downs and everything in between" states Schlitt. "In all the years I've been involved in music I had never written a song about the amazing gift the Lord has given me in my wife. It was a joy to write this song for a lady who has been there for me for a long, long time and changed my life."

Written by Schlitt, The Greater Cause producer Dan Needham and Grammy Award winner Andrew Ramsey (Jonny Lang, Mandisa, India.Arie), "The Gift" has been released to radio in celebration of Valentine's Day through A-Sides Radio Promotion. The song was recently named a Top Relationship Song by NewReleaseTuesday in a category that included songs by Chris August, Sara Groves, Bebo Norman, Todd Agnew, and Francesca Battistelli.

"My wife Dorla is my encourager; she speaks into my life with love in her heart. I would love to see this song, which celebrates the relationship between my God, my wife, and myself, be used by others as well," says Schlitt. "I hope that people will send this song as a special message to their loved one. For those who have yet to find that 'certain someone,' I hope that they will simply enjoy the song themselves and trust the Lord to bring them that lifelong partner in His timing."
